The role of Parks Officer certainly take me places, looking after a variety of reserves and also playgrounds in Dunedin and surrounding areas. It has been a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the green areas of the city and further extend my skills and experience. Having worked previously in the Botanic Garden, I’ve been fortunate to continue working in such beautiful surroundings with awesome people.
I travelled halfway across the world and arrived in Dunedin. Very quickly, I got a job doing temporary work in reception and administration, progressing to a Project Support Co-ordinator role. I am now the Asset Management Officer in Parks and Recreation Services, dealing with asset information, system maintenance, insurance, project work and lots more! I’ve learnt so much being here. Dunedin is a great place, full of friendly people, economical to live in, has breath taking scenery and no traffic jams!
As a qualified botanist, I support and maintain the botanical integrity of our wonderful Botanical Garden here in Dunedin. This includes maintaining strong relationships with local and international scientific communities. It’s an incredibly busy and varied job from overseeing plant records to dealing with the public.
Born and raised in Dunedin, it’s a lovely small city with so much to offer!
